This blog post is me procrasinating....

I think I'd have to say Hayao Miyazaki is my favorite animator of all time. I love this video because it shows some of the best moments of his work. Watch and enjoy!

On a more depressing note, I don't have any idea how I'm going to write my history paper on the Lost Colony of Roanoke by tomorrow. Help! O___O

FROM THE SHELF OF MELISSA BRINK, WE PRESENT:

"Always Coming Home"

One of the books I'm reading now is "Always Coming Home," by Ursula K. LeGuin. It is about a civilization ing in post-apocolyptic Northern California. They are very in-tune with nature, family, dancing, and art, but very ignorant of their past. This book is not a narrative, however, but more of an archaeological and cultural journal, compiled by Mrs. LeGuin herself (as the Archaeologist). It was as if Mrs. LeGuin didn't write the book at all, but only "discovered" it. The book is full of poetry, journals, maps, folklore, and faerie tales of their culture.

If you enjoy fast-paced books, this one isn't for you. This book moves very slowly, wandering through this culture's history and uncovering secrets. It is beautifully thought out and presented, and you'll find yourself skipping back and forth through the book and marking favorite poems or maps to look at later. This is one book you don't have to read all the way through, or even in order.

I reccomend this to everyone...reading this will not be like anything you've read before, and it is very rewarding.

First GC Gathering of 2007

Well, hey. I'm especially tired today, even though I slept in until 10:00AM this morning. Ahem. Aloow to me expl...I mean, allow me to explain. I was at the Gathering at our church (webbie @ generationchurch.org) last night on Saturday. Doug and Donna Lasit came up from the City Bible Church in Oregon. I got there at 7:45 and we went all the way until 11:30. I coulda stayed there worshipping until 12:30. After the speaker and the altar call we get up front and worshipped for fifteen more minutes. When we finish a guy yells "ONE MORE SONG!!!" really loudly. We were soon all chanting, "One more song! One more song! One more song!" Donna Lasit, who was worship leading, couldn't really refuse us. We weren't budging from the auditorium. :) So we did one more song. Hah, we're crazy.

Pastor Wendell and Pastor Judah have been saying how the year 2007 is going to be the "year of perfection," because in the bible the number seven was a sign of maturity and perfection. I can't wait. :D

Well. I'm gonna go read my bible. I was having fun reading it but I stopped, because we went to see Night and the Museum with the Cosbys. (And yes, I'm serious. Bible reading is more fun than you'd think! XD)

The Cosby's House at Christmas

Ho hum. I wish it was tomorrow. Then I'd get to go to church in the morning and come back again for the candlelight service Christmas Eve.

GRRRR. I'm watching Heroes again but I have to stop. Because I won't be able to LATER if I don't NOW. Uggh.

Can't wait for Christmas! ^_^ It'll be fun. I hope we go over to the Cosby's house. The Barnes are over there, as well as Graham and Christy with the twins and Evan. That's, like...let me think... *counts on fingers* Mr. Cosby, Mrs. Cosby, Katie, Morgan, Lauren, Sandy, Graham, Christy, Evan, Ashley, Allyce, Andrew, Brian and Blake. Fourteen people in a five bedroom house (plus one small trailer in the driveway). Holy crap, I don't know how they do it. My house is one-third bigger than theirs. We have a _seven_ bedroom house.

Yep. That's just the Cosby's house at Christmas. lol. They could feed an army when they have dinner for their family and ours. Which is like, at least once a week.

:)
